At a recent family meet up, it struck me just how much we rely on the familiarity of our kitchen layout. I was following my daughter around her kitchen whilst she was busily making batches of cakes and bread – utilising the oven and work top breadmaking machine. She and her partner have been in their lovely dream country house for quite a few months now and I’ve seen various kitchen implement in one location or another . . . . after much trial and error, they’ve decided on the best layout of all the moveable items – to save energy and shoe leather. This stikes me as a very sensible way forward when moving into a different house, particularly if there is a kitchen already in place but will be needing renovation – for this read total rip out and replace . . . having worked in the space available, the new kitchen will reflect a very stylish but eronomic masterpiece worthy of the outlay!
